POSITIVE CHANGES AT GCC

Beginning in the next school year, Pastor Karl Sexton will beco= me the president of Gateway Christian College and Dr. Barnes will become the chancellor. This move will allow Dr. Barnes to return to the classroom full time and to work on writing projects; he will also continue representing the administration and college publically in travel and provide advice in all a= reas of college administration. Take a moment to read a brief article explaining the reasons and advantages of this rearrange= ment of responsibilities.

DR. SEXTON RETURNING TO THE PASTORATE

Dr. Johnny Sexton, faculty member since the founding of Gateway Christian College, has accepted the pastoral call to Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Dunn, N.C. Dr. Sexton will continue to be used at GCC in teaching yearly block classes each January. His dedication to GCC is as steadfast as ever, and his support of this ministry is simply moving from within the classroom to the broader fields of pastoral ministry. The colleg= e is thankful for this great man of God and for the impact he and his wife, Pegg= y, have made and will continue to make on GCC students. Read more about his mo= ve in his own words.

SUCCESSFUL GOLF FUNDRAISER

GCC’s Golf Fundraiser on April 1^st raised a little over $20,000.00 for the college’s general fund, and it provided a wonderful day of fellowship and golf for the fifty-three players. Read more about the event and also look at the gallery of pictures. Thanks to everyone who contributed, played, and sponsored = this event.

COMMENCEMENT ACTIVITIES

With the semester coming near an end, several commencement activities are coming up. The Graduate’s Banquet, a formal outing honoring this year’s graduates, will be held April 18. The graduates = are Corey Minter, Trena Bass, Katie Breneman, and C= aleb Edwards. A Commencement Concert featuring Mrs. Robin Wright, an accomplished flutist and a member of Gateway Church, will perform various selections on = May 3^rd at 7:00 p.m. The GCC Choir will also perform a few pieces as well. The commencement exercises will be conducted May 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gateway sanctuary; the public is invited. The commencement address will be shared t= his year by two Gateway staff members: Howard Bass (father of graduate Trena Ba= ss) and Doug Thorpe (father of graduate Katie Breneman).
